Sidebar navigation
Everything you can reach from the left sidebar — how it's organised, how to move around, and the shortcuts that make it feel instant.
The sidebar is your map of Workspace Canvas. Every page, database, teamspace, template, and setting lives somewhere in it. This article walks through each section top to bottom and covers the shortcuts that stop the sidebar from being something you scroll through and start it being something you never think about.
The sections
The sidebar is grouped into five sections, always in the same order. You can drag them to reorder, but the roles never change.
Private
Pages that only you can see. Perfect for scratchpads, personal notes, and drafts you're not ready to share. Moving a page out of Private into a teamspace is a single drag; nothing else changes.
Teamspaces
One entry per teamspace you belong to. Expand a teamspace to see its top-level pages. Admins can create new teamspaces from the More menu at the bottom of this section.
Shared
Pages shared with you directly — one-offs that don't belong to any teamspace, like a page a colleague sent you or an external document you were invited to comment on.
Templates
Your saved templates and any starter templates your workspace admin has pinned. Anything here can be duplicated into a new page with one click.
Trash
Deleted pages live here for 30 days before being permanently removed. Restore them or wipe them from this view.
Collapsing and resizing
Click the double-arrow icon at the top of the sidebar to collapse it into a narrow icon strip. Drag the right edge to resize it — Workspace Canvas remembers the width per device, so a wide monitor and a laptop can each have their own preferred layout.
The search shortcut
Press Cmd/Ctrl+K anywhere in the app to open the command palette. From there you can jump to any page, teamspace, database, or setting by typing a few letters of its name. This is almost always faster than clicking through the sidebar.
Keyboard shortcuts worth memorising
| Shortcut | What it does |

| Cmd/Ctrl+\ | Toggle the sidebar open or closed |
| Cmd/Ctrl+N | Create a new page in the current section |
